Customer Needs
As part of their growing product range, the customer had very specific needs for high-quality silver and gold electroplating on large copper components. This proved to be a major constraint within the supply base, most suppliers were unable to accommodate these larger parts in their existing process lines.
Karas Plating
At Karas, we like a challenge! and whilst we did not have an existing process initially, we saw a fantastic opportunity to establish a new and exciting partnership with an industry leader. With our dynamic approach, skilled team, and in-house line building capabilities, we were confident of a reliable solution.
The Karas Process
Following the initial customer approach, (as with all major projects), Karas assigned a team of experienced staff to work closely with the Oxford team:
- Product and technical requirements reviewed in detail and fully understood.
- Timescales established, with provision of floorspace and investment needs.
- New process line designed, built (in-house), and fully commissioned.
- Provision of gold and silver to the new line from our established supplier.
- Initial trials completed to establish product & process characteristics.
- Quality documentation prepared, with PFMEA, and Control Plans.
- Customer on site to sign-off of final product, with master samples.
The Results
We now have a new dedicated production process, with silver and gold plating set up in-line to produce an exceptional finish. We meet our weekly customer demands, with built-in provision to increase capacity if required. Our service includes intricate packaging of these high value products, with our own transport used for delivery and collection, avoiding potential courier issues.
